Mandatory information on the cover and title page
Please read and follow the translation of the Vice-Chancellor’s decision 2009-01-26 (Dnr SLU ua 30-139/09) which lists mandatory information that is to be included on your project's front page (cover) and title page ("page 2"). This decision is compulsory for all student projects and for all of SLU. It is to be followed in addition to any other instructions you may get from your department.
Optional stylesheet for the front- and title pages
If your department lacks instructions for the front page and title page, you can use SLU's stylesheet for producing the pages. The stylesheet should be used with Microsoft Word. When the pages are ready, create a PDF file and merge it with the PDF from your work. Read here about merging PDF files (section 4.4).
The file contains a form which you fill in.

When you click OK, your information is inserted in the document. The result is a Word file, complete and ready. If you lack some information when filling in the form, you must open a new file and start all over again. You cannot return to the form after clicking OK. The stylesheet is available for two different Word versions. It does not work with any Word version for Mac. Mac users will find an instruction below.
Download your template file for the front- and title pages for PC:
Template file for Word 2007/2010
Template file for Word 2003
Template files need after downloading to be installed in a special folder.
Read the instructions for installing and opening the template file with Microsoft Word 2010.
Read the instructions for installing and opening the template file with Microsoft Word 2007.
Read the instructions for installing and opening the template file with Microsoft Word 2003.
If you produce your front- and title pages in a Mac you can use a doc-version of the template, that does not contain the form. Download the file and open it. Replace the existing text with your own alternatively fill in missing text. Delete text that shall not be on your front- or title pages.
Download your document file for mac here.
Layout and writing instructions
SLU has no common policy for the layout of student projects. Individual programmes may have different guidelines and writing instructions. Please check with your department if there are any special guidelines or other instructions that you should follow!
- Veterinary students are to follow special instructions. Please contact your supervisor for further instructions.
- The Faculty of Landscape Planning, Horticulture and Agricultural Science, in Alnarp, has special instructions for student projects. Note that these instructions are only valid if you are a student at this particular faculty!
Optional stylesheet for the text of student projects
There is an optional stylesheet that can be used to format the text pages of your student project. The stylesheet is to be used with Microsoft Word. For the time being there are template files for the program versions 2010 and 2007 respectively. Please note that the SLU library will not offer any support for this stylesheet.
