APULA - The Research School for Architecture and Planning for the Urban Landscape

APULA started to operate in September 2008. Its aim is to provide a cross-disciplinary environment for postgraduate education specialising in the urban landscape. Its objective is to provide prospective and existing postgraduate students with better knowledge of research and development within the subject area, as well as increased possibilities to establish their own national and international contacts.

SLU is responsible for the organisation and running of the research school. Postgraduate students and supervisors at SLU as well as at a number of partner colleges/centres of education are associated to and active within the research school.

The research school APULA’s kick-off was located in Malmö this year. The workshop lasted for two days and gathered eight PhD students and five supervisors. Besides to meet and have nice time together the aim was to discuss urban research and to work with writing styles and the writing process. The first day included a long walk through Malmö with presentations along the way. In the second day we worked in groups with texts that the PhD students presented.
