Symposium 2011

Welcome to the FoSW symposium ‘Ecosystem Services in soil and water research’ 7-10 June

The graduate school Focus on Soils and Water warmly invites PhD-students and researchers to participate in the symposium ‘Ecosystem Services in soil and water research’ the  7-10 June 2011 at the Ultuna campus of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden.  The objectives of the symposium are:

  • To be a forum for presentations and discussions of ’state-of-the-art’ research within Ecosystem Services in soil and water research.
  • To increase understanding of the potential role of soil and aquatic sciences in interdisciplinary research
  • To discuss possibilities for strengthening co-operation in post-graduate education within soil and aquatic sciences between universities in northern Europe.

Ecosystem services in soil and aquatic sciences will be addressed in six different sessions with focus on supporting and regulating systems as well as threats to and protection of services provided by soil and aquatic systems. The scope ranges from basic to applied research with strong links to different sectors of society.

These issues are highly relevant for both the scientific community and society as a whole, and we would very much enjoy your contribution to these discussions. We are looking forward to seeing you in June 2011!
