Umeå Plant Science Centre receives top review – “among the world’s best” (2013-03-20)
Formas' grants for strong research environments 2010 (Keeling, Näsholm, Laudon)
National strategic grants, 2010-2014. SLU coordinates Trees and crops for the future. SLU also participates in Bio4Energy och STandUP for Energy.
Future forests. In the future it will be necessary to intensify forestry to gain more timber, paper and energy and at the same time secure biodiversity, recreation and other values. Programme leaders: Annika Nordin, SLU Umeå, Stig Larsson, SLU Uppsala.

Quality and Impact - unique evaluation shows the way

Eight research teams were found to be world-leading (pdf). SLU was also considered to have a great impact and in general to have a very good level of collaboration with the business community and society. These are results of the evaluation of Quality and Impact (KoN).

The Linnean Centre for Plant Biology in Uppsala is a collaboration between SLU, Uppsala University, and the Forest Research Institute of Sweden.
Umeå Plant Science Centre is a collaboration between SLU and Umeå University.

The Linnaeus Centre for Bioinformatics (LCB) is a joint initiative between Uppsala University and SLU. Cutting edge research ranging from microbial and mammalian genomics via computational functional genomics to molecular evolution.

Ove Nilsson gets a Wallenberg Scholar ( in Swedish, 2012-12-11)
Claudia Köhler (press release in Swedish), professor at the Department of plant biologogy and forest genetics. Mechanisms of polyploidy-mediated postzygotic reproductive isolation. She has received a starting grant for young scientists from European Research Council.
David Wardle, at the Department of forest vegetation ecology, receives 3 million SEK a year for five years from Wallenbergsstiftelsen (2010).
