Publish doctoral and licentiate theses

On this page and its subpages you will find information on how to format your thesis, print it and publish it in SLU:s open archive Epsilon.

Publishing a doctoral thesis at SLU

  • As author, you are responsible for formatting your thesis, arranging the printing of it and depositing it in Epsilon. (Guide to publishing your thesis)
  • All doctoral theses written at SLU shall, according to the Vice-chancellor's decision, be published online in SLU:s open archive Epsilon, no later than three weeks before the defence (day of public display).
  • It is mandatory to use the document template for the summary chapter/monographs, supplied by the SLU University Library.
  • All doctoral theses shall be part of the publication series Acta Universitatis agriculturae Sueciae. The series ISSN is 1652-6880.
  • All doctoral theses must have two unique ISBN numbers (order here): one for the printed version and one for the electronic version, and a number in the Acta series.
  • You are required to deliver the correct number of printed copies of your thesis to the SLU University Library and registrar. The number varies depending on the faculty, see below.

Publishing a licentiate thesis at SLU

  • As author, you are responsible for formatting your thesis, arranging the printing of it and depositing it in Epsilon. (Guide to publishing your thesis)
  • All licentiate theses written at SLU shall, according to the Vice-chancellor's decision, be published online in SLU:s open archive Epsilon.
  • It is voluntarily to use the document template for the summary chapter/monographs, supplied by the SLU University Library.
  • The licentiate theses are not published in the Acta series. Some departments have set up specific series for licentiate theses. Check with your department if there is a suitable series. If not, your licentiate thesis can be published as a monograph.
  • All licentiate theses must have have two unique ISBN numbers (order here): one for the printed version and one for the electronic version.
  • You are required to deliver the correct number of printed copies of your thesis to the SLU University Library and registrar. The number varies depending on the faculty, see below.

Printed copies to the SLU Library and registrar

  • NJ-faculty: On the day of public display it is your responsibility that 3 copies of the thesis are available at the SLU-library in Uppsala and 1 copy at the Registrar office, Box 7070, 750 07 Uppsala
  • VH- faculty: On the day of public display it is your responsibility that 4 copies of the thesis are available at the SLU-library in Uppsala and 1 copy at the Registrar office, Box 7070, 750 07 Uppsala.
  • S-faculty: On the day of public display it is your responsibility that 4 copies of the thesis are available at the library at the campus where the dissertation takes place and 2 copies of the thesis are available at the Registrator office, SLU, 901 83 Umeå.
  • LTV faculty: Repro Alnarp will handle the distribution of theses for doctoral students at the LTV faculty.
