Research projects
- Plume interaction and odour spacing effect on host finding behaviour of bark beetle and moths. How odour plumes of host and non-host volatiles affect the host seeking behaviour of insects? I study this by field lab bioassays and measurement of odour plumes with Photo Ionization Detector (PID). Extracellular recording (SSR) from olfactory receptor neurons in the presence of spaced odour sources to determine the effect of plume interactions and spacing at periphery level.
- By electrophysiology I characterize different functional types of olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) of cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis.
- Identification of novel compounds from extract of different host plant of Spodoptera littoralis using gas chromatography coupled single sinsillium recording (GC-SSR) and gas chromatography coupled mass spectroscopy (GC-MS).
