Analysing the effectiveness of Strategic Environmental Assessment processes
Funded by SLU and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency
In recent years, there has been rapid growth in the use of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) procedures internationally, as part of initiatives to promote environmental policy integration and sustainable development. This research project involves the development of a novel framework (or meta-theory) for interpreting SEA effectiveness. The framework will be tested using case studies drawn from a range of fields, including development aid, spatial planning, and national policy formulation.
