Accommodation and cost for students attending the Wildlife Biology course at Grimsö (BI0872)
(In English only)
Students attending the wildlife biology course stay at the Grimsö Manor where they share rooms (2-3 students per room). There is a restaurant at the manor where students can eat lunch during work days (i.e. Monday to Friday) – there are also cooking facilities in a building nearby the manor where students can prepare their own food but please be aware that the kitchen is small so do not plan for major cooking bonanzas. Also, please note that there are no stores available at Grimsö although this is usually not a problem as there are usually a few students that have a car and students are usually good at shopping together (there are also a few vehicles available at the research station that can be used if none of the students have a car). The closest grocery store and gas station are located in Riddarhyttan which is 14 km away from Grimsö. There are a number of grocery stores and other stores in Lindesberg (30 km from Grimsö).
There is TV, video, a computer with internet access, wireless internet, microwave, fridge, laundry machine, and dryer available for free at the manor. The rooms come with sheets but students are responsible for cleaning common living areas and their own rooms.
Costs
Accommodation: 3000 sek for the whole course
Lunch: 2750 sek for the whole course
Please note that these costs are packages for the whole course so if students miss a few days here and there they will still have to pay the price above.
Pets
There are two rooms at the manor in which dogs are allowed (5 beds) plus that there are several kennels nearby for outside living. Please contact Gustaf (gustaf.samelius@slu.se) if you are interested in bringing your dog to the course – the first 5 who contacts Gustaf about having their dog at the manor will be booked for the two rooms available. If there are more than 5 people wanting to keep their dog inside, we will refer you to a place nearby where dogs are allowed.
No other pets are allowed at the manor.
