I am currently working as a post-doc in a project concerning the effect of the predicted future change in climate on the distribution patterns of fungal pathogens. Both the growth and activity of fungi are to a large extent effected by weather conditions such as temperature and precipitation. The predicted change in the future climate is thus likely to alter the geographical distribution patterns of the fungal species causing diseases in our forests. This project is part of the Mistra program Future Forest
In november 2009 I defended my PhD thesis with the title 'Litter decomposing fungi in boreal forests -their function in carbon and nitrogen circulation'. In my PhD project I studied the role of litter degrading fungi in carbon and nitrogen circulation in boreal forests. In particular, I focused on the implications of fungal translocation on carbon and nitrogen circulation and the effect nitrogen has on fungal assimilation patterns of carbon.
