Long-term experiments focusing on phosphorus and nitrogen losses to drainage waters.
- The impact of the crop sequences and management in conventional and organic cropping systems.
- Impact of soil management, catch crops and manure on nutrient leaching
- Nutrient leaching from growing vegetables and potato.
- Losses of ammonia following manure application.
- Development of simulation models (SoilnDB; SOIL, SOILN).
Ongoing projects
- Organic farming with and without livestock – nutrient turnover and risk of nutrient leaching from different crop rotations on sand and clay soil (SLU).
- Nutrient leaching from sandy soil - measures and new technique in conventional cropping systems with poultry respectively cattle slurry (SLU, SJV).
- Nitrogen leaching and turnover in cropping systems with undersown catch crops and with or without application of pig slurry at different rates in spring or autumn (SLU, SJV)
- Improved fertilisation strategy and reduced nitrogen demand in lettuce (SLF).
- Leaching of nitrogen and phosphorus after potato – leaching following different types of potato (SLU).
