Estimating pesticide losses to surface water and groundwater across large areas

Work at SLU

  • Since 2009: Postdoc: CKB / FoMa: (follow-up of the FOOTPRINT project at SLU). Tools for large scale modeling of pesticide fate in soils and evaluation of pesticide transfer risks at the regional scale. Batch parameterisation, modeling & postprocessing of the MACRO model in Sweden.
  • 2008: Postdoc: FOOTPRINT EU FP6 project. Validation of FOOTPRINT sets of pedotransfer functions for water and solute transport in soils.
Work conducted with Nick Jarvis & other researchers of the Biogeophysics and water quality group.

Area of expertise

  • Pesticide fate in soils:
  • Field and laboratory measurements of soil and pesticide properties;
  • Modelling (MACRO);
  • Preferential flow in soils;
  • Good understanding of the tight relationship between soil variation and pesticide fate at the landscape-scale.
  • Pedometrics applied to water flow and solute transport in soils
  • Computing. Data management and processing:
