Professional interests

My research is focused on questions concerning how soil chemical properties are influenced by different forms of land-use and environmental conditions and if these changes will have an impact on the capacity of the soil to deliver ecosystem services like good conditions for forest or agricultural production. Over the years it has included studies related to soil acidification by acid rain and forestry, recycling of nutrients in the forestry sector and carbon sequestration. Recently I have expanded the scope of my research to include analysis of driving factors behind land-use changes and possible ways of counteracting negative impacts. In these studies I work with participatory approaches together with researchers of different specialisation.

Apart from research I am also involved in improving post-graduate training at SLU and in different projects related to environmental monitoring. These activities invloves co-ordination of a graduate school in Soil Science and co-ordination of SLU:s activities related to reporting under UNFCCC and the Kyoto protocol.
