Research interests
I work in a project that studies plant-insect interaction. In this project we try to understand causes and consequences of inherited plant traits affecting larval survival of a gall-forming cecidomyiid (Dasineura marginemtorquens) on willow (Salix viminalis). Two different kinds of plant responses i.e., with and without hypersensitive responses (HR), are associated with larval mortality in this system. At present, we are studying the molecular genetic background of resistance with the quantitative trait loci (QTL) method. Associations between genetic markers and phenotypic trait variation will be evaluated in order to identify and estimate the effect of (QTLs) for resistance.
The project is financed by FORMAS and STEM.
