Jörg Brunet

Professor in Ecology

Research

The main topic of my work concerns the ecology of southern Swedish broadleaved forests, especially the causal analysis of species distribution patterns.
In my PhD-project 1990-94, I studied effects of acidic deposition on forest plants by integrating field studies and experimental, ecophysiological work.
After my PhD-thesis, I have studied secondary forest succession, with emphasis on effects of management history and soil chemistry.
Within the Broadleaves research programme at SLU 2003-2009,
I studied factors limiting the distribution of saproxylic beetles and epiphytes in beech forests.
My current research has a focus on restoration of herbaceous forest vegetation in young forests. Together with colleagues in the European research network FLEUR, I also study the importance of climate and land-use to performance of a set of forest herb species.

Teaching
I am responsible for the course "Broadleaves - ecology, nature conservation and silviculture" (15 ECTS) within the Euroforester M.Sc. programme.
