My general interests in forestry are focused on intensive and economical silviculture. As a former employee of forest company I'm interested in practical implication of
scientific silvicultural findings into forestry. However, my educational background does not allow me to forget about the importance of environment issues in silviculture.
In my Phd project I work with issue of trees selection in forest operations, and the response of individual tree to pre-commercial thinnings and thinnings.
The questions about which trees should be retained after forest tending and how operation will influence their quality are important to answer.
Thus, the methods of forest tending will influence the economical output at the end of the rotation period. The question about the importance of even spatial distribution of the trees has not been clarified yet also.
