Research interests

  • Deadwoodology
  • Biodiversity
  • Conservation biology
  • Community ecology
  • Landscape ecology
  • Insect population ecology
  • Restoration of forest ecosystems
  • Effects of new forestry methods on biodiversity
My main research interests are in the areas of conservation biology, landscape ecology and community ecology. More specifically I mainly work with questions concerning the effects of past and future forestry on biodiversity. My research has mainly focused on saproxylic beetles but I am now broadening my area of interest and in my current projects I include several organism groups (insects, birds, vascular plants, mosses, wood fungi, small mammals). In addition to my main area of research I am also involved in studies evaluating the importance of re-introduced mammals on the ground insect fauna in Australia, beetle assemblages in burned areas and ant community ecology.
