RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am assistant professor in Conservation Biology and Landscape Ecology at SLU, working within the Forest BIOCORE research group.

I have a broad interest in ecology applied to conservation issues. Being some kind of a hybrid between a forester and an ecologist, I am particularly interested in the interactions between forest landscape management and animal species. Important research areas include (1) the effects of intensified forest management – including the use of nonnative tree species – on biodiversity, (2) the definition of conservation and restoration targets, (3) the use of surrogates for conservation and restoration planning, (4) the browsing ecology of large herbivores in the boreal zone and interactions with forestry, and (3) the community ecology of forest animals, with special focus on birds and beetles.
