Associate Professor of Economics

Presentation

Although my research work has been primarily on economic aspect of natural resource management I have been well aware that other aspects such as planning, ecology and silviculture are also important in management of natural resources. In my research work I often integrate economic science as one piece of a parcel that includes a broad spectrum of other disciplines. Among other things my research has primarily focused on:

Management of conflict of interests associated with uses of land to help meet societal preferences and demands e.g. conflict of interest between use of land for nature conservation and agriculture and forest products; conflict of interest between use of forests for timber production and game production. Economic valuation of non-market goods especially recreation, game hunting and ecotourism.Public participation in management of natural resources.

Cost-effective framework for integrating provision of multiple ecosystems services simultaneously into forest management.Policy impacts and institutional barriers to development and economic efficiency.Cost-effectiveness in forest management and food security.

  • Econometric modelling: I have experience in the use of statistical packages such as LIMDEP, SPSS, MINITAB and R for modelling both small and large data set.
  • Survey design and administration: I have huge experience in questionnaire design, interview technique and Delphi survey as well as administering survey in developing and developed countries conditions.
  • Qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Economic analysis.
  • Socio-economic impact analysis.
  • Policy analysis.
  • Economic valuation of non-market goods.
  • Nature conservation management.
