New PhD course: Animal Welfare and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Last changed: 19 November 2019

In this course we assess relationships between animal welfare and the UN sustainable development goals and integrate animal welfare issues with their relevant sustainable development goals.

Students will relate their own research to animal welfare and the UN sustainable development goals, as well as map and present some major knowledge gaps related to animal welfare and sustainable development. There will be cross-disciplinary discussions on future challenges and solutions related to animal welfare and sustainable development.

Activities will include interactions and cross-disciplinary knowledge transfer with other students and at least three internationally well-known researchers, at least one working with animal welfare and one working with sustainable development. Although having its primary focus on farm animals, the course will be relevant to students working with all categories of animals.

This 3.0 credits PhD course is arranged by Graduate School for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences in collaboration with the Global Challenges University Alliance.
