Researchers from the program "Sustainable production and consumption of milk", together with researchers from other disciplines, will investigate this to be able to learn from the past and create opportunities for a sustainable future.

Increased sustainability in dairy production through improved feed efficiency

Improved feed efficiency (FE) is a key parameter for increased sustainability in modern diary production. The project aims to increase the efficiency of converting feed into milk and reducing the environmental impact of dairy production.

Increased efficiency through increased longevity of dairy cows

This project is exploring the benefits of increasing the longevity of dairy cows under Swedish conditions by changes in herd management. The project will focus on effects on methane emissions by modelling, using existing data from the Swedish Official Milk Recording Scheme and results from an advanced computer simulation tool, SimHerd, to evaluate farm profitability. Milk from cows in different lactations will be analysed for processing traits.
