Farming of fish, shellfish and algae has an important role to play in future food supply, but how to make farming even more sustainable? And what should the fish eat? Circular bioeconomy, new feeds and gastronomy are keywords!

The seminar "Farming in water – a key to sustainable Swedish food production?" was well-visited at Björkanderska magasinet with an interested and active audience.

Anders Kiessling, SLU-professor in aquaculture and Cecilia Lalander, SLU-researcher in Environmental Engineering gave an introduction to the subject and presented ongoing research at SLU. This was followed by a discussion about demand for seafood and the key role of new sustainable fish feed in a circular bioeconomy. Participants in this discussion in addition to Anders and Cecilia were Åsa Domeij, head of sustainability at Axfood, Andrea Giesecke, project manager at Torsåker gård, Axfoundation and Knut-Olof Lerche, head of development at Raisioaqua AB.
