New dissertation within One Health: We congratulate Maximilian Schulte!

Recently, Maximilian Schulte successfully defended his thesis. We took the opportunity to ask some questions about his research and future plans.
Who are you? Could you give a short presentation of yourself and your research area?
"Hi! My name is Maximilian Schulte, and I did my PhD from 2020-2024 at SLU on the topic of how the use of forests and wood products influence climate change mitigation and how this could be improved!"
How does your research align with the One Health concept, and in what ways can it contribute to a more sustainable and socially impactful world?
"My research aims to find solutions for decreasing the negative consequences of climate change on societies by a better management of forests and an improved use of wood. By that, the research aligns indirectly to the One Health concept because it tries not to lose the present options for being able to stop global warming."
What are your plans now after your PhD?
"I will continue my academic career and start a new job as a researcher at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. There I will extend my focus from the Swedish forest sector towards European forest resources. It is not only in Sweden that forest resources are under an increasing pressure from multiple sides and therefore it is important to investigate how the European forest resources can best be kept and used for, not only climate change mitigation, but also as timber resource, biodiversity conservation, and space for human recreation".
We wish Maximilian the best of luck in your future career!
