Within this theme area, we focus on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. Such infectious diseases can be zoonoses, that is, they infect between animal and human, or be those that only affect the animals. As for antimicrobial resistance, it is one of the great health challenges of the future.

Our mission and collaboration

In addition to assignments in research, education and environmental analysis, SLU has the mission to make knowledge accessible to the public and contribute to social development. By cooperating with public and private actors, nationally and internationally, SLU Future Animals, nature and health platform contributes to transform university knowledge into usefulness.

SLU Future animals, nature and health platform supports the network One Health Sweden, a collaboration between Uppsala University, Linné University, National Veterinary Institute (SVA) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

Research

At SLU research is conducted on the living conditions for people, animals and nature and how the our natural resources are best managed. Research starting points must be of high scientific quality as well as relevance to society.

If you are interested in popular scientific research within more of SLU's areas of responsibility, we recommend you to have a look at SLU's knowledge bank.
