Water is essential for all life, economic development, well-functioning ecosystems and human well-being, and is crucial for achieving all the sustainable development goals of Agenda 2030.

Knowledge for sustainable management of water resources and aquatic ecosystems becomes increasingly important with climate change, increased competition for resources, rapid urbanization and loss of biodiversity. Water is therefore well integrated into many of SLU’s courses and programs. SLU additionally holds a number of courses and programs where water or aquatic ecosystems are in focus.
