Workshop 2 - "Measuring health effects of nature" Vaasa Oct 16-17 2023
The workshop brought together project experts in social and health care, VR and digital technology, and multidisciplinary research, along with representatives from the project’s client groups. Together, participants explored how the health effects of nature can be studied from a medical and health science perspective.
A key focus of the workshop was how to measure the body’s physical responses to nature-based interventions. Participants discussed different assessment methods and also had the opportunity to test them in practice.
One example is the measurement of Heart Rate Variability (HRV), an indicator of stress and recovery. During the workshop, HRV measurements were tested using Firstbeat equipment – the same technology that will be used with the project’s client groups.
The workshop combined scientific discussion with hands-on experience, strengthening the foundation for evidence-based evaluation of nature’s impact on health and wellbeing.
