Last changed: 11 October 2019

Örjan Östman is an external collaboration specialist in aquatic ecology with focus on ecosystem-based fish management.

In my research, I want to work together with other stakeholders to develop sustainable fishing and use of aquatic resources for the future.

My goal as external collaboration specialist is to increase the knowledge among decision-makers and stakeholders on how different resources in and around water are intertwined and affect each other when they are utilised. I develop management models and tools which take various types of utilisation of the whole ecosystem into consideration.

My goal as external collaboration specialist is to increase the knowledge among decision-makers and stakeholders on how different resources in and around water are intertwined and affect each other when utilised.

SLU is an international prime actor within environmental monitoring and assessment and advice on water issues in Sweden. It is important that our findings and advice are spread to a wider public, and I work continuously to spread information about the status of our aquatic ecosystems.

To reach my goals as external collaboration specialist, I discuss and develop projects with those who utilise or manage aquatic resources. This guarantees that research and communication proceed from activity-based needs.
