Is it possible to get strawberries despite the pests? That's the reason why I am exploring the possibilities to utilize plant tolerance in plant protection.

Presentation

I work as a post doc in the Strawberry Lab, led by Johan Stenberg. My work concentrates on the evolutionary and ecological aspects of plant-herbivore interactions. I am especially interested in plant defences against different herbivores. In my current project I am exploring the possibilities plant tolerance might offer for crop protection. Plant tolerance is the ability of plants to mitigate the negative effects of herbivory. As a study system I use woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) and a set of different herbivores. In addition, I include commercial strawberry cultivars in my experiments.

Cooperation

I divide my time between the Strawberry Lab at SLU and the University of Turku, Finland.
