Emelie Fredriksson
Ecologist that focuses on natural disturbances such as fire and browsing and the effects on species composition of wood-inhabiting insects, fungi, vertebrates and plants.

Research

The goal of my PhD-project is to quantify the long-term effects of natural disturbances in the boreal forest, their interactions as well as their effects on biodiversity. To do that I have collected data on beetle and polypore species composition 12 years after several wildfires and prescribed burns in northern Sweden and additionally measured browsing pressure by moose. Camera traps also recorded the visitation of vertebrates during the same sampling season.

Cooperation

I'm the initiator and co-host of the podcast Wild Research Bites where we evert month invite guests to discuss topics related to research, education, and other current forest-related topics.
