Analysis of genetic variation in Swedish goats

Objectives

The aim of this work is to investigate genetic variation in Swedish goats.

Background

There are four Swedish goat breeds: the Swedish Lantrasget, Lappget, Göingeget and Jämtget. However, very little is currently known about the genetic variation in these breeds.

Project description

In this thesis the student can investigate how much genetic variation and inbreeding there is within the breeds and how closely related the breeds are to each other. It is also possible to instead focus on genes for certain traits, such as genes that affect milk characteristics or genes that control coat color.
