The aim of this thesis is to critically examine invasive species, and identify other agendas that may underpin eradication efforts.
The aim is to critically examine invasive species and identify other agendas that may underpin eradication efforts.
Non-native, invasive species are often considered a major threat to native biodiversity, land use and infrastructure. The EU has developed a list of invasive species that should be controlled in Member States and, if possible, eradicated. However, the threat is often not so pronounced at a closer look, especially with regard to native flora and fauna in Europe. Therefore, to assess the support for the classification of invasive species, the studies underlying the decision-making process are disseminated in a structured way to evaluate the degree of inaccurate conclusions.
In this thesis, the student will work on critically examining invasive species, as well as identifying possible agendas that may underpin eradication efforts.
