Ellinor Spörndly-Nees

Ellinor Spörndly-Nees works as a postdoctoral fellow in a project about horse hooves together with Anna Jansson. The aim of their project is to understand why some horses have hardand strong hooves while other horses have hooves that are worn faster and therefore may have problems. In the project, the horses will be examined in various waysincluding histology, image analysis and gene expression.

Ellinor started in the project in mid-March and will work on the project for two years. She also teaches at the department.During the fall of 2018, Ellinor defended her doctoral thesis in which she worked with several species such as mink, rat and polar bear to find out how male reproduction is affected by environmental chemicals. Ellinor is a veterinarian, trained in Copenhagen and has previously worked clinically with small animals.

She lives outside of Uppsala and loves being in nature and at home with her family and working in the garden together with the chickens.
