The project aims to make the official control at slaughter of domestic livestock and game handling more efficient. The aim is to:
- Define the practical and technical needs with regard to image transfer for veterinary inspection at slaughter.
- Inventory technical solutions on the Swedish market.
- Assess the reliability if inspections with such solutions.
- Assess the technical functionality of such solutions and the general consequences for food safety, biosecurity and animal welfare.
The project is a scientific collaboration with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and the Swedish National Food Agency. Collaboration also takes place with slaughter companies. The project is conducted on commission from the National Food Agency (Moderniserad köttbesiktning vid slakt och vilthantering).
Participants at the department are doctoral student Viktor Almqvist, associate professor Jan Hultgren and professor Lotta Berg.
The project started in August 2018 and is scheduled to finish in December 2020.
