The conference starts on August 22 at 13 pm and ends on August 23 at 15 pm.

The conference has attracted 37 contributions from all of the Nordic countries. We are also happy that three invited speakers have accepted to appear on our conference: A.T. Adesogan (USA), G. Borreani (Italy) and S. Bååth Jacobsson (Sweden). Preliminary titles of their presentations are: Improved fibre digestibility and Future silage perspectives (both presentations A.T. Adesogan), Improving forage harvesting and conservation affects dairy farm efficiency and sustainability (G. Borreani) and Profitable dairy production in turbulent time from a European perspective (S. Bååth Jacobsson).

We will attempt to divide the conference into four section and some of their contents are highlighted below.

Ruminant nutrition (19) covers a wide range of topic including effects of feeding faba beans, seaweed, macroalgae, fungi, harvesting frequency, aspen wood, reducing silage particle size, processing birch wood on such things as nutrition, milk production and methane production.

Feed conservation by ensiling (9, including 2 commercial papers) deal with such treatments as moisture content, inoculants and additives. Both results from grass, pulp from biorefineries and common reed are presented.

Modeling (4) include presentations related to forage harvest optimization, whole crop barley, compound feeds in NorFor and feed distribution effects on animal products.

Methodologies and miscellaneous (5) cover aspects of in situ degradation, ash analysis, growth of grasses.

Keynote speakers
