The project studies mineralization of nutrients from organic sources in greenhouse production of vegetables.

It is a challenge in organic production to match the mineralization of nutrients with the demand of the crop, especially for fruit-bearing crops like tomato. The project focuses on production in restricted volumes of soil, which is a common type of production in Sweden, however, no new production areas with this system can be established due to a change in EU regulations. There regulations are to be revised within a decade, and the current project will provide important knowledge possibly affecting the outcome of this revision.

Facts:

The project is a cooperation project between SLU Alnarp and RISE and will be performed during fall 2018 and spring 2019.

Funding: The Swedish board of Agriculture, Partnership Alnarp
