Comparative Medicine

Comparative medicine encompasses experimental medicine using ani¬mal models for translational and biomedical research, for increased biological and medical knowledge.

The objective is to better understand and treat, or prevent, diseases that occur in humans and animals. Laboratory animal medicine encompasses the knowledge concerning animals used for experi­mental purposes and their use in research, their biology, care, management, diseases and the weighing of ethical issues with their use, as well as the legislation and regulations that governs this.
