The academic projects developing from the exchange between SLU Landscape and FADU-UBA Urban Design strongly rely on their authors, the participants in the Linneaus Palme Partnership. In yearly iterations, students and teachers add efforts and insight, advance pedagogical methods and create a common body of work on urban water landscapes.
The academic relationship between SLU and FADU-UBA began in 2013 when Prof. Lisa Diedrich got an international travel grant from SLU to give a lecture on ‘Transforming Harbour Landscapes’ at the Buenos Aires Architecture Biennial and visited Prof. Flavio Janches at FADU-UBA. She invited Prof. Flavio Janches to SLU in the autumn of 2014 to lecture about ‘Playscapes for Marginalised Communities’ in Malmö. At the same time, two SLU students received an MFS grant to carry out the fieldwork for their MSc projects on urban water landscapes in Buenos Aires, acting as pioneers for further student exchange.
