Use of scent detection dogs for soil pollution
We investigate if scent detection dogs can be used to screen large numbers of soil samples for two common types of pollutants found in soil at contaminated sites; the pesticide DDT and tri/perchlorethylene. In field trials we also test using dogs for screening of former forest nurseries for DDT. We have chosen the pollutants based on the interest from the market and to test the dogs on two types of pollutions with different properties, which probably affect the dog's ability to detect them.

Probability of detection (POD) of articles when police dog teams are searching for lost persons
When searching for a lost person, it can also be interesting to find clothing and other objects that the person have left behind in the terrain. We investigate the proportion of possible objects found during a search and whether the hit rate differs between different types of objects and their location. It can be for example shoes, jeans or t-shirts.
