More about International Forestry

Last changed: 20 October 2016

The activity is connected to global (tropical/subtropical) issues on forest and natural resource management through applications in developing regions and environments.  It has an emphasis on assessment and analysis of situation, trends and change processes at local land scape level in ecosystems and societies in the context of sustainability.

Our projects are usually run jointly with other cooperation partners and include research, capacity building, environmental monitoring and various developmental issues. The cooperation over the last decade includes forest universities and institutes in Albania, Ethiopia, Vietnam, India, China, Nicaragua and some other countries, international organization such as CIFOR and FAO and various Swedish partners and universities including the Swedish Forest Agency, the Royal Swedish Academy of Academy and Forestry and other departments and research groups within SLU.

Much of the work is organized together with the subject area Forest in rural studies, also based on the department of Forest Resource Management.
