Välkomna till kursen Biologi!
Vi startar måndag 16 januari kl 9.15. Ni kommer då att få mera information om kursen och en första föreläsning om Biologi. Lokalen heter Sal L i Undervisningshuset, SLU.

Kursen består av fyra delområden: cellbiologi, djurfysiologi, genetik och växtfysiologi och vi kommer att ha föreläsningar, övningar i grupper och laborationer.
Under kursens gång kommer ni att få information via Canvas och den öppnas närmare kursstart. Canvas liknar Studium som ni använder på UU. All kursinformation, bilder som visas på föreläsningar, diskussionsfrågor, laborationsinstruktioner mm kommer ni att hitta på kursens Canvas-sida.
Kurslitteratur är boken ”Campbell Biology: Concepts & Connections, Global Edition, 8:e, 9:e eller 10:e upplagan”, Författare: Reece, Taylor, Simon and Dickey ISBN: 1292057807 eller 9781292229478 eller 9781292401348.
Det finns många varianter av Campbell Biology, några är betydligt mera omfattande, så använd ISBN nummer när söker böckerna. Vilken som helst av upplagorna 8, 9 eller 10 går bra att använda. Boken kan köpas från olika bokhandlar, på nätet eller från förlaget. Övrig kurslitteratur är också de handouts från föreläsningar som ni kommer att hitta i Canvas.

Content
Introduction to cell biology and genetics. Organisms, their structure and function. Uptake of water and nutrients: metabolism and water balance. Reproduction and spread. Protection and survival mechanisms.
Grading form

Passed written exam as well as passed practical exercises and seminars.
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
