På grund av Coronasituationen kommer flertalet av träffarna att ske digitalt via Zoom. Om träff nr 2 som är studiebesök går att genomföra på plats är fortfarande osäkert. Beslut tas under oktober månad och om de inte går att genomföra studiebesök på plats kommer de att ersättas med någon form av digitala studiebesök.

The course provides knowledge, so that the student will be able to independently plan feeding and activities involving horses on the basis of the resources that are provided in a rural business.
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
calculate diets and account for feeding of horses from a biological and economical perspective
plan an enterprise within the horse sector, on the basis of different conditions for horse farming, and with regard to sustainable development
plan and design a horse establishment considering the local environment and outdoor stay in interaction with the landscape, as well as the development of the rural area
Content
The course uses different forms of teaching adjusted to distance learning, with three full days of lectures in Alnarp. There are lectures, seminars, written assignments and project work, as well as cooperation with the horse sector through business contacts and study visits. The course is provided as a half-time distance learning course.
The course deals with animal- and nutrition physiology, specialising in the horse, knowledge of feeds and feed control, nutrient requirements of the horse, as well as determination of diets for different categories of horses. The course also deals with requirements of the horse regarding indoor environment and upkeep, planning of horse establishments, and creation and production of horses and horse-related goods and services as a farm enterprise.

Approved written submission assignments, project work and written examination. Participation in study visits.
- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
