Basic Course in Plant Physiology

he course in Plant Physiology gives you basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of higher plants. The course begins with an overview of the different types of cells and tissues in the plant as well as the structure of the plant cell and the functions of the different organelles in the cell. Then we will go into more detail about the processes that take place in the plant cell and its organelles, such as cell division, protein synthesis, photosynthesis and respiration. You will also learn about the importance of water and mineral nutrients in the plant and how water and mineral nutrients are taken up and transported. A laboratory exercise where you will be able to follow the development of deficiency symptoms for various mineral nutrients will last throughout the course. We also go through root symbioses that are important for the plant's nutrient supply. The most important groups of plant hormones and their importance for the plant's development and response to external factors will be covered in lectures and laboratories. As part of the course, you will also practice searching for scientific information and referencing sources in a scientific text.
