Master’s thesis in Forest Science, A2E - Forest Economics

An independent project is a project where you will apply your in-depth knowledge, skills and approach to an issue in the field of the education. Often, the independent project is at the end of your education where you will plan, conduct and present an academic study. Your project will be published publicly.

Information from the course leader

Welcome to the thesis course this fall! The thesis courses in business administration and forestry economics (for forestry business administration majors) in Uppsala are joint. They share a Canvas page - and course seminars. In the attached file under "Timetable" you will find preliminary information about: the course book (Real world research), a schedule that tells you the important dates (mandatory parts are marked with red) and who's contributing in the course. The course language in Canvas is English and the coruse language in the seminars is adapted to students needs (English if there is a non-Swedish speaking student).

We encourage starting the course with an understanding of a topic you want to study, a specific problem - or a comission you want to take on prior to the start of the course. In the Time table document you will also find learning objectives as well as an appendix that has some suggestions for thesis topics.

Our department has limited capacity for supervision. That means that we take on thesis advisory roles in subjects we are well aquainted with. To ensure advisory capacity you may contact us to discuss planned projects prior to the start of the course. Our contact information is available in the Time table document. Access to the Canvas page does not mean you are registered in the course. We have to check the prerequisites and ensure advisory capacity before we can register students. The Canvas page has lots of information (examples of proposals, method materials, templates - and a good number of links that might be of interest) that may help you throughout the thesis process.

We wish you a fun thesis adventure!

All the best,

Anders, Anders, Torbjörn & Cilla
