With successful completion of this course, students will be able to:- from the perspective of organization theory within for example leadership, motivation, culture and organizational change analyse, discuss and critically reflect on problems related to quality and environmental objectives within companies and other organizations. The student will also be able to propose and argue for solutions of these problems,
- from the perspective of marketing within for example communication, brand management and relationship building analyse, discuss and critically reflect on problems related to quality and environmental objectives within companies and other organizations. The student will also be able to propose and argue for solutions of these problems,
- give an account of problems within organizations that are related to quality and environmental issues and the connection between these. The student will also be able to describe and explain the design of a quality and environmental management system,
- explain and apply terms and models within quality and environmental management,
- give an account of and discuss methods, conditions, drivers and barriers in working with quality and environmental issues within different organizations.
Content
The course takes a starting point in:- problems related to quality and environmental objectives, stakeholders concerned with these problems and practical examples of different organizations’ approaches to quality and environmental objectives,
- theories in standardization and concrete management standards/management systems with an extra focus on quality and environmental management systems (contents of systems, management principles, external and internal audits),
- methods, conditions, drivers and barriers for quality and environmental management within different organizations.
This application is used to analyse, discuss and critically reflect around:
- organization, leadership and marketing of quality and environmental issues,
- organization theory on for example leadership, motivation, culture and organizational change,
- theories in marketing on for example communication, brand management and relationship building,
- recent research on managing organizations within quality and environmental issues.
Formats and requirements for examination
Requirements for a passing grade are: passed exam, project work, assignments and exercises and active participation during mandatory events. The examination of the project includes presenting a constructive opposition of another project report.- If the student fails a test, the examiner may give the student a supplementary assignment, provided this is possible and there is reason to do so.
- If the student has been granted special educational support because of a disability, the examiner has the right to offer the student an adapted test, or provide an alternative assessment.
- If changes are made to this course syllabus, or if the course is closed, SLU shall decide on transitional rules for examination of students admitted under this syllabus but who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline. For more information on this, please refer to the regulations for education at Bachelor's and Master's level.
