Grading scale

Prior knowledge

Courses equivalent to at least 45 credits from the Landscape Engineer Programme or the Horticultural Management Programme - Garden Design, Bachelor´s Programme.

Objectives

For students to further develop their knowledge of the actual professional role, reflect on it and link it to their education.

On completion of the course, students will:
- Be able to explain the operations and the aim of the activities that are carried out at their placement workplace
- Be able to identify and explain the role of the landscape construction engineer/horticulture management engineer at the work experience place
- Have improved their skills in making short oral presentations.

Content

- The student seeks out a relevant work experience place. The student is also responsible for making contact with a supervisor at the workplace. The work experience place and the supervisor must be approved by the course leader at least two weeks before the course starts.
- Nine weeks of work experience placement during which the student will in principle follow the working procedures of the workplace.
- Oral and written reflection on the work experience in the form of written notes and an oral presentation.
- Planning and execution of a study visit to the workplace by the tutor who is the contact person.

Formats and requirements for examination

Approved oral presentation. Participation in seminars. Approved written task. Attendance at work placement.
  • If the student fails a test, the examiner may give the student a supplementary assignment, provided this is possible and there is reason to do so.
  • If the student has been granted special educational support because of a disability, the examiner has the right to offer the student an adapted test, or provide an alternative assessment.
  • If changes are made to this course syllabus, or if the course is closed, SLU shall decide on transitional rules for examination of students admitted under this syllabus but who have not yet passed the course.
  • For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline. For more information on this, please refer to the regulations for education at Bachelor's and Master's level.

At SLU, each student will be allocated a contact person who will visit the student at their workplace.
The course is also provided during the summer.
