The equivalent of 120 credits, of which 90 credits in the main areas Landscape Architecture, Landscape Planning or that the student is accepted to the Urban Landscape Dynamics master’s programme or the Landscape Architecture master’s programme (admitted until autumn 2012).Objectives
To allow the students to further develop their familiarity with their professional role as landscape architects through carrying out and reflecting on practical work in a working site context, under the supervision of qualified instructor at the place of work.
Learning objectives
After completing the course the student should:
give a written report on practical experiences from the place of work.
be critically reflective concerning the assignments in a wider professional and societal context.
independently perform practical work.
Content
Preparation for internship in consultation with the director of studies/course coordinator
8-10 weeks of work placement
Written report (10-15 pages excl. imagery)
-Final seminar (the student reflects orally on his or her internship in front of other students and course coordinator and participates in a joint discussion)
The course gives 15 credits of skill training in the degree of master of science in landscape architecture

Examination:
Work report. Sections that must be included in the report are:
Description of the workplace and its different areas of activity
Description of the activities that the student participated in
Reflections on internship/internship/professional role/social context and critical approach to, for example, tasks and documentation materials, the work process, the possibility of reassessment during the process, accessibility and gender equality aspects, etc.
The content and qualities of the report determine the grade along with the supervisor’s assessment via a letter describing the student’s initiative, motivation, actual performance, and ability to work both independently and in groups.
Requirements for passing the course
At least 80% presence at the workplace during the internship period

Participation in the final seminar
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
Other information
The right to participate in teaching and/or supervision only applies for the course instance the student was admitted to and registered on.

Additional information
It is the student’s own responsibility to arrange an internship and a supervisor.The place of internship and the scope of the internship must be approved in advance by the course coordinator.
