VÄLKOMNA till Studio 3!

18 januari startar vi den tredje studiokursen på landskapsarkitektprogrammet där det handlar om att planera i större skalor. Vi kommer att jobba med Markaryds kommun.

Inom landskapsarkitektprogrammet, Alnarp, utgör studiokurserna under varje årskurs en ryggrad i utbildningen där du i hög grad utifrån tidigare erhållna kunskaper och erfarenheter får träna dig på att gestalta, planera och förvalta olika typer av landskap. Projektkurserna är färdighetstränande, dvs. du ska tillsammans med övriga kursdeltagare träna dig på att lösa komplexa och sammansatta uppgifter. Detta omfattar såväl kommunikativa färdigheter, att använda olika typer av arbetsmetoder som förmågan att hitta lösningar och göra goda och rimliga avvägningar.

I 3an vidgas skalan och frågeställningarna blir mer omfattande och komplexa samtidigt som kravet på övergripande strategier och helhetslösningar ökar. Tillsammans med andra studenter arbetar du i grupp med att planera och gestalta med utgångspunkt i ett större landskapsutsnitt med mer storskaliga komplexa strukturella och rumsliga sammanhang. En sådan arbetsuppgift kräver ett arbetssätt där ni hela tiden pendlar mellan den övergripande och den mer detaljerade skalan. Mellan övergripande struktur och detaljerad fysisk verklighet. Viktigt är också en djupare förståelse för de processer och aktörer som påverkar landskapet ni arbetar med.

En viktig del i Studio 3 är att reflektera över vilket samhälle ni vill se i framtiden och formulerar en vision för den. Hur ska vi leva, hur ska vi överleva, hur ska den fysiska omgivningen se ut och vara strukturerad? Det saknas inte utmaningar men ni avgör själva och formulerar övergripande mål som ska koppla till ert förslag och de åtgärder ni föreslår.

Vi ser fram emot att tillsammans med er genomföra denna kursen på ett intressant, lärorikt, kul och säkert vis.

Objectives

The purpose of the course is that the student should develop and practice his/her ability to handle questions within spatial planning in municipalities and to work in a group. The student should practice in acting as a landscape architect within the framework of a given theme and to acquire a more balanced picture of the professional role of the landscape architect in relation to other actors.



Learning objectives:

After having completed the course, the student should be able to:

- process and design spatial and structural correlations and changes in a major landscape segment

- draw up contracts with independently phrased problems within the framework of the course theme and well-motivated strategies to solve those problems within the time frame allowed by the course

- show the ability at oral presentations, in submitted presentation material and in written reflections to apply basic rhetoric and communicative knowledge.

- account for the working process of the group and reflect on the student’s own and the group’s common standpoints during the course of the working process

Content

The course comprises both theoretical and practical elements, even if emphasis is on the latter. The practical work covers sketching work and work in model both individually and in group. A continuous dialogue between course leaders and students is maintained through seminars, one-day sketching, part presentations and submission of written work. An important element of the course is rhetoric. The ability to express one’s intentions and to convince other actors orally, in writing and by means of pictures is practised in several different elements.



The course offers a framework within which the student to a large extent is free to exert his/her own influence on both the orientation of the work and the result itself. Great weight is attached to the ability of students to work in a group and together seek, find and formulate as well as present solutions to problems within the framework of the course theme.



The course is implemented as a project and should be seen as a forum for creative work, dialogue and development. Teachers and instructors are available during the course of the work as motivators and discussion partners.



Compulsory attendance applies at course introduction, municipal visit, weekly seminars, study trip, group dynamics teaching, internal criticism, municipality presentation and group evaluation. Only this attendance suffice however not to perform a project that can become approved in the course but an active group assignment and good interaction with course administration is activities that are necessary for a successful work process.

Formats and requirements for examination

Active participation in compulsory elements

Approved project presentation, approved individual process reflection, carried through presentations at week seminars and visits at municipalities, participation on study trip or approved replacement assignment.
  • If the student fails a test, the examiner may give the student a supplementary assignment, provided this is possible and there is reason to do so.
  • If the student has been granted special educational support because of a disability, the examiner has the right to offer the student an adapted test, or provide an alternative assessment.
  • If changes are made to this course syllabus, or if the course is closed, SLU shall decide on transitional rules for examination of students admitted under this syllabus but who have not yet passed the course.
  • For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline. For more information on this, please refer to the regulations for education at Bachelor's and Master's level.
