After the course the student should be able to:

- explain links between global and climate change

- foresee possible direct and indirect effects of climate change in the landscape

- use the concepts of risk, vulnerability, and resilience

- describe national and international structures for sharing responsibility and taking action towards adaptation to climate change

- solve problems in relation to adaptation to climate change and collaborate in settings of mixed professional backgrounds

Be able to elaborate on and apply concepts in climatology and the mechanisms driving climate change. Be able to apply methods in climatology

Be able to elaborate on expected impacts of climate change and response options. Be able to elaborate on theory of environmental change and climate change mitigation and adaptation, including drivers of mitigation and adaptation decisions. Be able to elaborate on the concepts of risk, vulnerability and adequate communications.

Be able to explain the fundamental mechanisms which give rise to the earth's climate and weather patterns, and the mechanisms driving climate change. Be able to apply basic methods in climatology. Be able to summarize scenarios of climate change. This grade is available at the first examination occasion only.

Be able to explain theory of environmental change and climate change mitigation and adaptation, including drivers of mitigation and adaptation decisions.
