Theme Course 2020:2
Information from the course leader
Welcome to this year´s theme course Landscape Architecture in Transport Infrastructure!
On Monday 31st of August, the introduction to the course will be in Malmö to minimize crowds in public transport and at Alnarpsgården. We will meet at 9 o'clock at SPLN in Stapelbäddsgatan 3, Malmö (https://stpln.org/) which is located next to the skatepark Stapelbäddsparken and near the train station. Regarding Covid 19 We will do our best to follow present preconditions and rules of conduct, and we have made some adaptations of the course based on the directions from SLU. - During all period we will use the room Hyllan for lectures, tutoring etc. Hyllan can be accessed directly from the east entrance and the room has its own toilets. We will make sure there are facilities for heating food, making coffee etc. in order to minimize the need of contact to the rest of campus. The room will be furnished in a suitable way with distance. - We encourage all students to not use public transport unless necessary. - All lectures will be recorded and/or live streamed. Since this course runs for the first time, we put high value in physical meetings. You should only stay at home if you are in a risk group or having symptoms! - Tutoring can be made on Zoom or in place. Since it is difficult to keep distance in tutoring situations SLU will provide mandatory face masks for these occasions. - The planned 3-day excursion around Sweden will be replaced by a one-day excursion with no overnight stay. For all excursions we have booked big busses (50 p) to make sure we can keep the distance also on the bus.

Objectives
The course aims at theoretical, artistic and/or practical in-depth study of a relevant theme presented by the course management at the start of every course. The flexible nature of the course means that the general learning objectives of the course should be clarified at the start of every course.
Learning objectives
After having completed the course, the student should be able to:
carry out a theoretical, artistic and/or practical in-depth study of a theme
present the results of the in-depth study of a theme in a convincing way
reflect on methods, apply theories and results with regard to the actual in-depth study of the theme.
Content
This course oversees occasional projects and studies that can contribute to diversity and quality in the student’s education. The theme can consist of an applied practical task or a research-related issue. Another area suitable as a theme is participation in architecture competitions. The students, in consultation with course management, are given major responsibility for the design and content of the course. The in-depth study of the theme can be carried out individually or in groups. Within the course, quality, theory/reflection, reporting and presentation are emphasised.
The course comprises in-depth studies of relevant themes. These studies are either group work or individual tasks, and may sometimes be scheduled, in which case they usually are compulsory. This is explained in detail when the course starts.
