How to write and publish a scientific paper
The course will be made up of lectures, reading and exercises. Exercises will include analysis of already published material, writing of different manuscript sections, preparation of tables and figures, training in English language usage, and analysis of strategies for choosing a journal for manuscript submission. In addition participants will be able to receive feedback on their own manuscripts.

Prior knowledge
Applicants must be admitted to PhD studies, preferably students with manuscripts or results ready to use as materials for the course.Objectives
The overall objective of the course is to train students to write and publish scientific results. After completion of the course the students will be able to: • Understand the structure of a scientific paper and be able to describe and discuss what each section needs to include, based on an understanding of the AIMRaD-concept. • write manuscript sections with clear and concise language. • design appropriate tables and figures for reporting results. • describe and discuss how to identify a suitable journal for a paper submission. • describe and discuss the process of submitting a manuscript, the roles of reviewers and editors and the different perspectives of the writer, reader, reviewer and editor. • apply the gained knowledge in order to develop a strategy for improving writing skills and publishing results in scientific peer-review journals.Content
