Leading organisations, projects and processes
Organisation and leadership theory and history, the modern organisation, project managament, communication and conflict management, formulation of personal goals and strategy in working life.
The course will
-give a general introduction to the subjects organisation and leadership
-prepare the PhD students for working life and career after exam
-encourage and support the PhD students personal development
-encourage a positive attitude among PhD students to a career as leaders, heads, managers etc.
-create contacts between the university and non-academic organisations.
From a platform in the subjects organisation and leadership and training of skills, the course discuss questions as: how do you do, how does it work in everyday practical life?
The course content relates to the basic course in pedagogic and subsequent courses in leadership for teachers and heads at SLU.

Admitted to PhD education at SLU. Preferably basic course in pedagogic 3 credits, or similar.Objectives
After completion of the course the participants should be able to- briefly describe history of theory of organizations
- describe and discuss the most common metaphors for organizations
- describe and discuss management of projects in general terms
- describe some strategies for management of conflicts in a working team etc.
- describe and discuss a personal plan for future leadership.

Formats and requirements for examination
Examination is performed through active participation and attendance, and by producing individual assignments.Attendance is mandatory at all lectures. Occasional missed lectures can be compensated by writing extra-assignments.

The course leader Kjell Lindström has a Bachelor degree in behavioural science and doctoral education in pedagogics from Uppsala University, and has, after a period as university lecturer, personnel developer and analyst, now worked as a consultant for over 20 years.
